Privacy Policy

Lingio is a spaced-repetition trainer for German exam vocabulary. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep the footprint small on purpose: we only collect what the app needs to schedule your reviews and keep your account working.

• Account details: your email address and a securely hashed password, created when you register.
• Learning data: which words and drills you study, your answers, and the spaced-repetition schedule (FSRS) we compute from them.
• Settings: preferences such as your target level, daily new-card limit, retention target, theme, and timezone.
• Technical data: basic request information (such as IP address and browser type) processed transiently by our hosting provider to serve pages and prevent abuse.

• To run the spaced-repetition scheduler and pick your daily review queue.
• To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
• To generate example sentences and dictionary content using an AI provider (see below).
• To operate, maintain, and improve the service.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising. Lingio shows no ads.

We rely on a small set of processors to run the service: a cloud hosting and database provider, and an AI provider used to generate example sentences and dictionary entries. These providers process data only on our behalf and under their own security and privacy terms. We do not send your email or password to the AI provider.

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. We also store some preferences (such as your theme and drill mode) in your browser's local storage. We do not use third-party tracking or advertising cookies.

We keep your account and learning data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete the associated personal data, except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal obligations.

You can access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To make a request, contact us at the address below. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR.

Lingio is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page.
