Registering for a Goethe-Zertifikat exam costs around USD 190 to 250 for one attempt at each level. If your final score falls below the pass mark (a minimum of 60%), you must register again and pay the full fee for your next attempt.

German Certification Exams Are Divided into 4 Separate Modules
_Lesen_, _Hören_, _Schreiben_ and _Sprechen_ are assessed independently by Goethe, ÖSD and telc. From B1, each module is scored from 0 to 100 and certified separately, so you only need to retake the module that did not meet the pass requirement. At A1 and A2, scores from all four modules are combined, with separate minimum scores for the written and oral sections. Most candidates fail because they are weak in one specific module, not because their German is weak overall. Lingio mocks help you identify and strengthen that weak point.
Module _Lesen_ (Reading)
LesenPractise understanding German texts aligned with the Goethe standard, from formal and informal emails, classified ads and public announcements to news articles and opinion questions (_Ja/Nein_ or _Richtig/Falsch_).
Each answer is marked as either correct (1 point) or wrong (0 points). Your total raw score is then converted to the final mark scale.

Module _Hören_ (Listening / Comprehension)
HörenTest your ability to follow everyday conversations, station and airport announcements, phone instructions and radio interviews in _Hochdeutsch_ from native speakers.
The binary marking system gives 1 or 0 points. The original audio tempo controls the time available, training you to make decisions quickly while listening.

- The track plays and the elapsed time advances.
- The first statement is answered Richtig as the announcement reaches it.
- The second question, about which platform, is answered from the same announcement.
Module _Schreiben_ (Writing Essays & Letters)
SchreibenPractise writing short messages, forms, formal and informal emails, and argumentative forum essays based on the required prompts (_Angaben_).
Evaluation follows the official A to E rubric, covering _Aufgabenerfüllung_ (task completion), _Kohärenz_ (coherence), _Wortschatz_ (vocabulary) and _Strukturen_ (grammar).

- Complete 1 data form and write 1 short message, with a combined weighting of 15 points.

- Write 2 messages, one informal and one semi-formal, evaluated for task completion and language use (25 points in total).

- 3 written tasks evaluated across 4 official criteria, with a score from 0 to 100.
- B2
- 2 main tasks, a forum-discussion opinion and a formal email, evaluated to the Goethe standard with a score from 0 to 100.
- A writing task with three points to cover, and an empty composer under it.
- An answer is written into the composer in German.
- A draft score appears against the task's points.
- An examiner named Katrin reviews the draft, adjusts the score and leaves a remark, and her verdict is the one that stands.
Module _Sprechen_ (Speaking)
SprechenPractise spoken communication, from introducing yourself (_Sich vorstellen_), making and responding to requests, and planning activities together to presenting and defending an argument.
Assessment covers official criteria such as _Aufgabenerfüllung_ (task completion), _Aussprache_ (pronunciation), grammar and _Interaktion_ (interaction fluency). The opening introduction is not included in the score.

- A paired session evaluated for task completion, language use and pronunciation (25 points in total).

- A paired session covering planning together (_Gemeinsam etwas planen_), a short topic presentation and questions (scored from 0 to 100).
- B2
- A paired session with an individual presentation and an argumentative debate assessed across 6 official criteria (scored from 0 to 100).
- A speaking room with four name plates: you, your partner, and two examiners.
- A topic card in German asks the pair to plan a weekend trip together.
- Each examiner writes a short note and a score.
- The two scores combine into the mark for the module.

Yes. Although our mock structure follows the Goethe-Zertifikat format, ÖSD and telc also test language ability at the same CEFR levels from A1 to B2. Lingio's _Lesen_ and _Hören_ practice is useful for building comprehension skills for any of these exams.
A mock result reflects your readiness while completing that particular practice session. Passing 2 to 3 different mock sets with a comfortable score is a strong sign that you are ready for the official exam. If a result is below the pass mark, use the detailed explanations to improve before registering.
