Practise the paper, not a gamified version of it.
Lingio's exam practice is the Goethe reading paper in its real shape: the same Teile, the same instructions, the same question types, marked the way the real one is marked. Reading only — Hören, Schreiben and Sprechen are not built yet, and we would rather say so here than let you find out in June.
What the practice looks like
Papers are composed of the same Teile as the exam, each with its own instruction text and question format.
Matching an advert to a person, true/false against a text, multiple choice on detail. Not a quiz reskinned as an exam.
Your answers are graded on the server against the key. You cannot see the answer before you commit to one.
The words in the papers are the words in your drill queue. A term you meet in a Lesen text is one you can click into the dictionary.
You can see what you scored, on which Teil, and go back to the texts you got wrong.
Practice is for finding out what you do not know. Timing yourself is a separate skill and you can do it with a clock.
- Drills — build the vocabulary and the forms
- Courses — learn the grammar in an order
- Exam papers — find out whether any of it survives contact with a real text
- Which parts of the Goethe exam can I practise?
- Reading (Lesen) only. Listening (Hören), writing (Schreiben) and speaking (Sprechen) are not implemented. If those are the modules you are worried about, Lingio is only part of your preparation and you should plan for that now.
- Which levels are the papers for?
- The reading material is aligned to the Goethe A1–B2 levels, matching the vocabulary Lingio already drills.
- Is the practice paper the real exam?
- No. It is practice material in the real format. Lingio is not affiliated with the Goethe-Institut and passing a Lingio paper does not certify anything.
- Can I see the answer key?
- After you submit, yes. Not before — marking happens on the server precisely so that the key is not sitting in the page while you answer.
- Does exam practice affect my drill queue?
- No. Exam papers are a separate subsystem with their own scoring. Your FSRS queue is driven only by the drills.
Find out what you actually know.
Sit a reading paper in the real format and see which Teil is the one that is going to cost you.
